Consider the Options

The biggest decision after identifying the right Rane bath tub model and the door swing (left or right) will be what type of Hydrotherapy is best for you.

Soaker?
Air Spa?
Water Jets?
Combination of Air Spa & Water Jets.

Of course there are safety related options too:

Secondary Latch?
Thermostatic Mixing Valve?

End Panels

End panels are standard on some models and optional on others (depending on whether stand alone or built in.

Make note of whether included in the model description and add during checkout if needed.

And Finally the bells and whistles:

Chromatherapy?

Aromatherapy?

Note: You will have the opportunity to add the option(s) you want during the order process in the shopping cart. More about each below:

Soaker

A soaker is the simplest and least expensive model designed for those who simply want to soak without any water movement. Rane soaker models provide a safe and comfortable way to bathe.

Power requirement: None.

Air Spa

The Air Spa option by Rane is our recommended form of hydrotherapy the vast majority of users. It provides virtually all the benefits of water jets without the hygiene maintenance issues associated with any water jet system. The only tradeoff being that it's short the highly concentrated/localized massage that water jets provide

Power requirement: 115V AC, 60Hz, 15A service with a GFI Circuit

Water Jets

Water jets provide wonderful localized/concentrated massage along with stimulating general water movement. Water jets are not recommended for those with skin or incontinence issues.

Power requirement: 115V AC, 60Hz, 15A service with a GFI Circuit

Combination Air Spa and Water Jets

For those who want both, Rane offers the combination of the Air Spa, and water jets for maximum hydrotherapy options and benefit.

Power requirement: Two (2)

115V AC, 60Hz, 15A service with a GFI Circuits

Secondary Latch

The secondary latch provides inexpensive assurance that the outward swing doors are not inadvertently opened while filled with water. Originally designed for clinical settings and memory care patients, we recommend this option for all units as it is an inexpensive option up front, but would be expensive to have it added down the road (and adding it later may void the warranty).

in the case of a medical emergency the latch can easily be unlatched from the outside of the tub to enable the door to be opened at any time.

Power requirement: None

Thermostatic Mixing Valve

Provides automatic water temperature mixing control, and 3/4" water feed capability. Available on all models.

Bells & Whistles

While we make light (no pun intended) of these options calling them "bells & whistles", please understand our perspective. Our focus is on providing the best and most reliable hydrotherapy solutions at the best price.

And while there are plenty of studies showing these options provide therapeutic benefit, and certainly sensory pleasure, we believe you should be made aware that they can be a source of additional maintenance and cost.

Chromatherapy

Not a standard feature, but requested often enough that Rane now offers Chromatherapy optionally on all models except soakers.

Power requirement: powered off Air or Water jet system

Aromatherapy

Hydrotherapy - Soaker? Air Spa? Water Jets? Combo?

Important note regarding Air Spa vs. water jets (generically known as "whirlpool" or "Jacuzzi")

When considering Hydrotherapy, one should always consider hygiene.

While water jets are popular, they do require more maintenance and disinfecting. It doesn't matter what system or manufacturer you are looking at or their claims, water jet systems should be flushed with disinfectant as a scheduled maintenance task.

It is especially important for us as we age (and our skin gets thinner, and incontinence is more common) or have skin conditions to avoid infection and other related complications.

The good news is that Rane's Air Spa provides an effective and hygienic alternative to water jets
